The difference is - Waterfall is purely sequential model. Meaning - you cannot progress to the 'next' stage, before completing the prior stage. In that sense, there are 'Stage Gates'. But with the Agile Model, you literally 'release' small amounts of the product with every Sprint. And incrementally build that way. Hope that helps.
